Heating case study
Wood stove door latch after blackening treatment, on pegboard
Case summary
A Canadian wood stove manufacturer needed a door latch that could withstand sustained temperatures above 400°C without corrosion or warping. The 4.0 mm SPCC latch is hot-stamped and then blackened (oxide coating) for heat and corrosion resistance. The spring-loaded latch mechanism requires a controlled spring force, verified with a force gauge on every part. Tooling was completed in 30 days; the OEM has been reordering quarterly for 3 years.
